Senior Draftsperson – Transmission Lines

Tesla Grid is currently recruiting a Senior Draftsperson with previous Transmission Lines experience for a local WA utility. Our client is a well-known electrical utility that is responsible for connecting 2.3 million customers across Western Australia. This business has over 70 years of experience providing the local community with safe, reliable, and efficient energy solutions.

Commencing initially as a 4-month contract, this role will be based in our client’s state-of-the-art offices located centrally in Perth’s CBD.

 

The role

As a Senior Draftsperson, you will be at the forefront of our client’s energy evolution and will be draw on your technical expertise and knowledge to provide high levels of technical supervision, advice and support to the wider Transmission Lines team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical supervision and provide advice and support to team members (internal and external) for drafting and project issues;
  • Review and analysis of drawings to ensure compliance with detailed design/drafting processes;
  • Maintain and update relevant transmission lines drawings;
  • Co‐ordinate with the Principal Engineer and other team members in developing & implementing standard transmission overhead line & underground cable design drawings;
  • Prepare detailed construction estimates for assigned transmission overhead line projects;
  • Provide advice on transmission overhead line issues to assist others in the development of project scope definitions;
  • Maintain, operate and update the database associated with transmission overhead line and underground cable estimating;
  • Prepare detailed & quality construction manuals and check the line relocation construction manuals done by other team members;
  • Preparation of technical documentation including (but not limited to) Bulletins, Memos, Annexures;
  • Manage transmission overhead line & underground cable projects;
  • Assist in preparing transmission overhead line and underground cable construction estimates;
  • Material Management including creation, maintaining stock codes for all transmission equipment and hardware;
  • Manage and improve stakeholder relationships by meeting or exceeding their expectations.

 

Requirements of the role

  • Minimum 10 + years previous experience (incl. technical experience in transmission overhead line construction role);
  • Considerable knowledge of transmission overhead line primary and secondary arrangements and associated engineering and construction work practices, standards and regulations;
  • Working knowledge of resource and financial management practices and procedures;
  • Previous experience using project and contract management systems and tools;
  • Previous exposure and knowledge of other disciplines, including protection, SCADA and communications;
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office systems;
  • Previous exposure to MicroStation;
  • Current WA drivers license (desirable);
  • Current National Police Clearance.
