Senior Substation Secondary Design Engineer

Tesla Grid are currently working in partnership with one of the premium brands across Australia and New Zealand for power systems engineering. Their team of technical experts provides innovative and specialist solutions to utilities, renewable developers, and mining clients. They design lasting solutions for all areas of transmission, distribution, generation and renewables, with engagement in a range of cutting-edge complex projects across the APAC region.

Due to expansion, they are currently seeking applications from Senior Substation Secondary Design Engineers for an opportunity at their Kuala Lumpur Office in Malaysia.

 

Job description:

  • Possesses positive working attitude with can-do approach to all their tasks and responsibilities;
  • Responsible for delivering drawings to desired quality standards and according to mutually agreed timelines with the client;
  • Ability to understand and apply engineering knowledge in accordance with international standards (IEC/IEEE/ANSI/AS etc), industry practise and project specifications in project delivery;
  • Clear knowledge/understanding of work procedures and ability to work independently;
  • Able to prepare effectively in a timely and productive manner;
  • Able to communicate with confidence with client;
  • Work closely with team members for project delivery and attend meetings with technical leads;
  • Responsible for coaching team members, leading and monitoring project progress and delivery;
  • Experience in substation secondary design (AIS & GIS Substation experience up to 500kV is desirable);
  • Ability to perform Concept Design, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detail Design for Transmission & Distribution Systems of various voltage levels;
  • Applies broad practical knowledge to design single line diagram, conceptual diagram, general arrangement drawings, cubicle drawings, schematic diagram, interconnection diagram and wiring diagram;
  • Perform CT/VT calculations, AC/DC load calculations and voltage drop calculations;
  • Able to review vendor drawings for all electrical components & calculations;
  • Prepare tender scope of work, technical specification and perform tender evaluation;
  • Hands on experience in DIgSILENT, ETAP and SKM software is of added advantage;
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD (basic knowledge of Revit and Substation 3D design is added advantage);
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

 

Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent;
  • At least 5 years of experience in Substation Secondary Design;
  • Proficiency in both written and speaking English are mandatory.
